Five Other Weiner-related “Dangers” In Pop Culture
We haven’t done a NEATO MOSQUITO piece in a while, so we figured this is as good a time as any.
Dios Mio! With the revelations that former peter Tweeter and New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner was sexting under the pseudonym “Carlos Danger”, we wondered if we should review other danger-related pop culture phenomenons that our man Carlos might be tapping into:
1. Harvey Danger — One-hit wonder rock band with 1997 song “Flagpole Sitta”
Weiner reference: “Flagpole Sitta” lyrics include “I’m not sick, but I’m not well”, “The agony and the irony, they’re killing me”, and “when I feel a bit naughty, I run it up the flagpole and see who salutes”
2. Danger Mouse – music producer, half of Gnarls Barkley
Weiner reference: Hit song “Crazy” lyric that says “I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind”, “Think twice, that’s my only advice” and “You really think you’re in control?”
3. “Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?” – Lifetime Network movie starring Tori Spelling
Weiner reference: Quotes include “Sex, mother! The word is sex!” and “I just never learned to trust love.”
4. Danger Danger – 80s pop metal band
Weiner reference: released the singles “Bang Bang” “Naughty Naughty” and “Monkey Business”
5. “Danger Zone” – Kenny Loggins’ song from the film Top Gun
Weiner reference: lyric “you never know what you can do until you get it up as high as you can go”
