From the Vault: Watch George Michael’s “Faith” Album EPK (1988)
Twenty-five years ago, former Wham founder George Michael was dominating music charts across the globe with his powerhouse “Faith” album, actually released in October 1987. With four number one Billboard singles, Michael owed much to his exposure on MTV, with cinematic videos directed by Andy Morahan and even one by the late Tony Scott. Morahan has stated that Michael’s intention was to ditch his teenybopper image and establish himself as an adult performer in the modern music world. Courting controversy from the very start with many radio stations censoring his “I Want Your Sex” single, the “Faith” album eventually sold over seven million copies that year alone on the strength of that single as well as the title track and the hits/videos “Father Figure”, “One More Try”, “Kissing A Fool” and “Monkey”.
Take a look at this unearthed electronic press kit for “Faith”, courtesy of the VEVO vault, which spotlights several of his videos along with concert footage and interviews.
