OUR ANNUAL TRADITION: The Ten Most Awesome Christmas Music Videos Ever

Alas, Daryl Hall, John Oates, and their “Jingle Bell Rock” video did not make the list.

The holiday tradition continues for THE GOLDEN AGE OF MUSIC VIDEO as we humbly present, in no particular order, The Ten Most Awesome Christmas Rock Music Videos EVER. These are some holiday treasures worth revisiting every year.

1. Kinks – Father Christmas
Ray, Dave et al serve up the most cynical of all the yuletide tunes. Check out this live version.

2. Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, seven hits of L-S-D! This perrenial BBC awesomeness from the legendary Roy Wood combo. This song has reappeared on the UK charts for the past four Christmas seasons, so here’s hoping that this year’s egg nog gets spiked with the good stuff once more across the pond.

3. Billy Squier – Christmas Is The Time To Say I Love You
Back when the “M” in MTV meant “music”, they’d do a few Christmas songs in-studio each year. In 1981, it was the Squierster himself. I guess he’d to anything to get people to forget “Rock Me Tonite”.

4. Hanoi Rocks – Run Rudolph Run
An unearthed gem from the L.A. metal scene. These guys look like they came to the studio straight from an all-nighter at the Rainbow with Lemmy.

5. Run DMC – Christmas in Hollis
“Momma’s cooking chicken and collard greens!”

6. Twisted Sister and Lita Ford – I’ll Be Home For Christmas
Dee Snider and Lita Ford give us what we’ve always wanted: a “Home Sweet Home” video for a Christmas song…at least that’s what I’ve always wanted.

7. George Thorogood and the Destroyers – Rock and Roll Christmas
Another MTV in-studio gem from the 80s. Check out the legendary John Lee Hooker dressed as Santa!

8. Ozzy Osbourne and Jessica Simpson – Winter Wonderland
I cannot look away, no matter how hard I try. So weird it’s INCREDIBLE. I was SURE he was going to bite her head off at the end.

9. Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody
An in-studio gem from Oasis-ancestors and glam kings Slade. Watch for Martin Chambers of the Pretenders enjoying the sing-a-long and egging on the drummer.

10. Ramones – Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)
The immortal Ramones dish one out for the holidays. “We were supposed to go visit my parents in Mineola!”
