a-Ha Singer Joins Pitbull and Christina Aguilera Onstage at Billboard Music Awards
“Feel This Moment”, a big dancefloor hit by Cuban-American rapper Pitbull with help from The Voice’s returning judge/artist Christina Aguilera, got the 80s throwback treatment at the Billboard Music Awards this past weekend. The song, taken from Pitbull’s seventh studio album Global Warming, features a version of the synth riff from a-Ha’s “Take on Me”. In tribute, Pitbull and Aguilera brought out a-Ha lead singer Morten Harket to belt out the chorus to a-Ha’s biggest hit during their mashup performance on the Billboard Music Awards. Harket can still hit the high notes, and the groundbreaking music video for “Take On Me” was projected on the set background during his portion of the performance.
With the recent performance of Hammer with Psy at the American Music Awards this year, the old-school-new-school live mashup trend seems to be gathering steam. Check out the whole “Feel This Moment” shebang right here, and check out the Q&A with Harket. The sun always shines on TV indeed.
